Rhonda and Joe Colley

Three Local Childcare Coordinators (LCCs), Rhonda Colley, Melissa Myers, and Svetlana Minjack will join their groups of au pairs and host families on June 5th to participate in an annual community yard sale.   Families will be contributing their used items to sell at the 30th annual Leeway Overlee Community Day and Yard Sale will take place along the John Marshall Drive/Ohio Street greenway on Saturday, June 5th from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The community will be out in force to exchange information and greetings, sell unneeded
household items, and pick up a few bargains. The civic association is working to arrange live music for the event, as has been the custom for several years. Proceeds will go to our Kids First Campaign.

Over 100 families set up tables for the festivities, which take place along the six-block stretch of the
greenway between Lee Highway and Washington Boulevard. Vehicle traffic will be restricted on the
affected parts of N. Ohio Street during the event.

Local Childcare Coordinators from Cultural Care Au Pair enjoyed a wonderful time at our annual National Meeting in April.  This year it was held in Disneyworld.  I had the ultimate pleasure of having 2 of my daughers and their families join me.  Meaghan, also and LCC brought her 2 boys, and my daughter, Kim and her husband and 4 children had their first visit to Disney.  Cultural Care did an awesome job entertaining us.   We had the time of our lives!!!

LCCs Rhonda Colley, Nicole Rusnak, and Melissa Myers joined their groups of au pairs on Friday night for a fun outing at Tuscanna Grill in Clarendon, VA of dinner and Karaoke.  We all sampled some of Tuscanna Grill’s wonderful bread samplings of Bruschetta, Parmesan Bread, and Seasoned’ Olive Oil and Parmesan.

Five delicious entree choices were offered along with a lovely atmosphere and fun socializing.  Au Pairs enjoyed some Karaoke after dinner and wrapped up the evening with a lot of laughs and some new found friendships.

A Surprise Visit From Two Former Au Pairs

Julia Moeller and  Fanny Zielke from Germany made a surprise visit to their former LCC, Rhonda Colley while visiting the states in March.   They we au pairs last year for two Arlington, Va families and came back to visit them and some of the friends they made during their year.

Local Childcare Coordinators for Cultural Care Au Pair, Joe and Rhonda host an international Valentine’s Dinner for area au pairs.  Over 50 local au pairs enjoyed each other’s tasty foods from each other’s home countries all over the world.  Clayton Purvis of Sun Trek presented travel options for au pairs who want to see other parts of the United States.   A great time was had by all!!!
