Our January meeting was great fun for au pairs in my group.  We met at the Sculpture Gardens Ice Skating Rink for an afternoon of skating and drinking hot cocoa.  This was the first time for many au paris to skate. More experienced au pairs took their hands and guided them safely around the  rink.  It was a fun day - a cold one - but full of wonderful warm friendships

In spite of the high temperatures from this past weekend, au pairs came and and enjoyed a summer barbecue at LCCs, Joe and Rhonda’s back yard.  July is  transitional period of the year when many au pairs are preparing to return to their home countries and several have recently arrived for a year or two of their lives with their host families.  Saturday’ barbecue was a great time for new acquaintances and sad good byes with wonderful memories to look back on. Thanks for the wonderful desserts and sides dishes added to chicken, hot dogs, pasta salad, and brownies served by Joe and Rhonda.

Kaisa Sletmoen and her sister SIlke made a visit to my home yesterday.  Kaisa was an au pair for a year and she is back visiting the states with her sister.  It was wonderful seeing her again.  Also visiting at the same time, was Maggie Abacioglu, from Sweden.  Maggie’s year is coming to an end and she came to say goodbye.  It was a great visit and so awesome to see them all.

Posted by: rcolley | March 2, 2011 | No Comment |

Au Pairs enjoyed a trip to Bowl America in Falls Church for their February meeting.  It was a fun evening for new and experienced bowlers.  Local Coordinator, Rhonda Colley proved that there was still one sport she could still rule with 4 spares and 2 strikes!!!!  A great time was had by all.

Au Pairs Make Annual Trip to Rehoboth Beach

Posted by: rcolley | September 13, 2010 | No Comment |

On Sunday, September 12th 58 au pairs along with Local Childcare Coordinators, Rhonda Colley and Karla Quigley made an annual trip to Rehoboth Beach.  We all enjoyed tasty foods from the Boardwalk, including Thrasher’s French Fries and Grotto’s Pizza.  Many of the au pairs spotted dolphins swimming by. It was the first trip for many to the Atlantic Ocean.  The weather was not as warm as some years but the beach is always fun.  Many new friendships were made in our special day together.
